British Swimming Age Group National Championships

The first day was phenomenal, both Katherine Shaw and Holly Williams qualified for the 100m backstroke finals in their respective age groups, and Holly went on to win bronze in the 11 year old age group. She swam a huge PB and set a new club record in the heats with a time of 1.13.57. Katherine too swam a brilliant race to finish 9th in her final. Her heat time of 1.09.98 broke her own club record.
Nia Kennedy also broke her club record in the heats of the 12 year old 200m free in a time of 2.18.14.
Holly also made the 11 year old 200m free final, where she swam a very fast 2.18.54 for fourth place very narrowly missing out on another bronze.
Many congratulations to all three girls for some outstanding swims.

Day 2 of the championships saw the 4x100m medley relay team of Katherine Shaw, Sophie Elphick, Nia Kennedy and Holly Williams qualify for the 11-14 years final of this event. This is a remarkable achievement for such a young team, and augurs well for a very bright future.
Will Hammond swam his 200m free event in a good PB for a new LC record and has further swims in the next few days.

Sophie Elphick swam the 200 breaststroke during Day 3's competition and took 2 seconds off her PB in the process. William Hammond also swam a solid PB in the 200IM, to break his club record. He was first reserve for the final. Nia Kennedy broke her club record with a PB in the 400 free in a time of 4.51.75.
The 11-14 years 4x100m free relay team of Katherine Shaw, Holly Williams, Nia Kennedy and Lucy Kirkwood placed 19th of 29 teams - again a very strong performance from all four girls.

During the last day of Age Groups William Hammond broke his own 400 free record with a time of 4.35.73.
Holly Williams was 1st reserve for the 100m free 11 yrs final in 1.05.93 and swam a good pb in the 200 back with 2.41.82. Most impressively she was 2nd in the heats of the 200IM with 2.40.52 and achieved 6th place in the final.
Chloe Veronique, just 11 swam a PB 1.06.60 in the 100 free and Katherine Shaw was right on her PB in the 12 years 100 free with 1.03.15. Kat also performed really well in the 200 back 2.31.81 for 13th place.
