| Hemel Hempstead Open Meet
A group of 18 Amersham Club swimmers entered a total of 72 events at the Hemel Hempstead Open meet on Saturday 25th November. This meet offers a chance of open competition to swimmers who are unable to make the entry criteria for licenced level 1 & 2 meets and for many of Amersham's swimmers, this was their first taste of an open meet.
All our swimmers made their day worthwhile by recording at least one PB each and 15 of the swims achieved placings within the age group. Of these placings there were a number of medals won: Daniel Barraclough picked up Silver medals in the 11-12 Years 50 Free, 100 Free and 100 Fly along with a Bronze in the 100 IM. Daniel's time in the 100IM was a new club record.
Jade Pithers took Bronze in the 9-10 Years 50 Free, Megan Davies also took Bronze in the 11-12 Years 50 Free.
Freyia Mahon-Daly collected Bronze in the 11-12 Years 100 Breast.
Ben Levart (9) made an impact by taking 4th in the 100 IM and 5th in the 50 Free, despite being one of the younger ones in his age group (9-10 Years).
It was especially encouraging to see so many young swimmers from Tadpoles squads and above, getting some valuable experience of racing for their club outside the confines of a team gala.
